It has been a busy and rewarding start to the year for us at Claire Calder Consultancy, with time spent visiting a wide range of UK boarding schools and strengthening our relationships with the people behind them.
Time at the British Boarding School Workshop
One of the highlights was attending the British Boarding School Workshop, where Claire and I spent three days meeting with meeting with Heads and admissions teams from a wide range of UK boarding schools. Opportunities like this are invaluable, allowing us to deepen existing relationships, make new connections, and gain a clearer understanding of each school’s ethos and day-to-day life.
Conversations during these events play an important role in keeping our knowledge current and ensuring that the guidance we offer families remains carefully considered and well-informed.

Recent school visits across the UK
Alongside this, we have continued our programme of school visits. Spending time within a school, seeing it in action and experiencing its atmosphere first-hand, offers a depth of insight that simply cannot be gained in any other way.
Recent visits have included Bromsgrove School, LVS Ascot, Shiplake College, Bradfield College, The Oratory School, St Mary’s School Ascot, Radley College, St George’s School Ascot, Shrewsbury School, Concord College, Clayesmore School, Hanford School, the Duke of York’s Royal Military School and Holmewood House School.
Each visit helps us build a clearer, more nuanced picture of where a child is most likely to thrive.

Looking ahead to upcoming visits
Looking ahead to the summer term, we are very much looking forward to visiting Ryde School, Canford School, Tonbridge School, Charterhouse School , St Anselm’s School, Repton School and Repton Preparatory School and Denstone College
Maintaining close relationships with schools, alongside regular visits, is central to how we work. It ensures that the advice we give is grounded, up to date, and always focused on finding the right fit for each individual child, ensuring we continue to offer carefully considered advice on UK boarding schools. You can read more about how we support families through the school selection process on our website.
If you are beginning to think about schools for your child, or would simply like to talk things through, we are always very happy to have an initial conversation.
